Christmas Films to Watch in 2019

Christmas is just around the corner, where on earth has the year gone? Soon it’ll be time to sit by the fire, hang those Christmas stockings and settle down with a mug of hot chocolate to watch some classic Christmas films.

But hang on, rather than watch the same Christmas films you’ve seen year in year out, why not add some brand-new Christmas films to your list this year? 2019 has a wonderful looking line-up of festive films being released just in time for the holidays. And while The Grinch and Miracle on 34th Street will always hold a special place in your heart, why not have a look and see if any of these new films could make your all-time top ten?

Here’s a look at what 2019 has in store for the film world this Christmas:

Noelle

To kick off our list, it’s a feel-good film starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader. Noelle tells the story of Noelle Kringle, the daughter of Father Christmas, as she goes on an adventure to find her missing brother, Nick, who is supposed to be taking over the family business and starting his new career as the jolly red fellow who hands out presents.

As the stress of the upcoming job causes Nick to abandon ship, Noelle finds herself leaving the North Pole for the first time as she tries to follow him and convince him to return to work.

This film released on 12th November 2019 on Disney+.

Last Christmas

He helps her through her misfortunes and personal failings to help her get her life back on track.

It released in cinemas in the UK on 15th November 2019.

Let it Snow

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Let it Snow tells the story of a snowstorm that brings together a group of high school students in a small town. They soon find that their friendships and love lives collide, and on Christmas morning, nothing will ever be the same.

Holiday in the Wild

Romantic comedies are in their element at Christmas time, and this film is no exception. Jilted by her husband on the eve of embarking on an African safari, Kate – played by Kristin Davis – heads on the trip alone where she meets an elephant conservationist. Together they form a bond with a baby elephant they rescue and find romance with each other along the way.

This film was released on Netflix on 1st November 2019.

Klaus

For fans of animation, Klaus is a retelling of the origin story of Father Christmas. The plot revolves around a postman stationed at a town in the North who befriends a mysterious toymaker and convinces him to let him deliver his toys to children. An unlikely friendship develops, and they deliver laughter and happiness to a joyless town.
