At Video2DVD we love being able to offer our customers our reliable VHS to DVD service, enabling you to enjoy it long after your old VHS has hung up their final stocking. Well, because of our love of all things nostalgia, and it being the season for spending time with your family and friends, we thought we would provide you with a few handy hints to help you capture the perfect home video this Christmas.

Everybody talks about Christmas from January to December 31st, so wouldn’t it be great to go back and revisit it? We can’t think of a better way to spend Christmas Eve than reliving Christmas of yore with a tasty tipple before heading to bed to avoid an awkward conversation with Santa; so gather round your twinkling tree as we offer you some advice to make this year’s Christmas home video the best yet!

Exercise Discretion

Try not to be the elephant in the room, getting in everybody’s faces. Not only does it serve to kill the vibe, but you are sure to turn whatever activity is going on into a forced-affair for the camera. People being natural is what is going to make next year’s rerun of the film that little bit sweeter. Some people love being on camera and it could turn into the Them Show.

Plan Ahead

There’s no fun in being the director all night, so you don’t need to keep the camera on you continually. As such, it pays to make sure that you plan for the big moments of the evening, like the toasts or the present opening. These are the moments you’ll cherish reliving.

Tell the Story

Your film will be great if you follow the events as they unfold. Try capturing the little things like atmospheric shots of the Christmas Tree or people arriving. People love to dress zanily on Christmas, so make sure to capture it and make them regret it! For amusement purposes, of course…

But most of all…

Have Fun!

Your overriding memory of Christmas will be an internal feeling and memory of whether you had fun or not, so make sure that you allow yourself time to enjoy it. Don’t be on camera duty all day. In fact, spread the duty; it’ll give a great view of Christmas through the eyes of each the attendees.

Finally, take time out to reminisce with your friends and family. It’s that warm, fuzzy feeling that we all chase around this time of year.
