The Future of Movies: Looking Ahead to 2016

2016 is shaping up to big an amazing year for movies. Over the past few months, there has been lots of information released (or leaked) about the films that are set to take the box office by storm next year. From superhero movies to children’s favourites – these are the films that have us eagerly awaiting their release whilst religiously checking the internet for any information or released footage.

We might be quite a few (or a lot) months off actually getting to watch these films, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited! Get your diaries out, and mark in the release dates for these films – they are guaranteed to be successes.

London Has Fallen (January 2016)

This is the long awaited sequel to the 2013 Olympus Has Fallen, which depicted an assault on the White House and one man’s struggle to stop it from happening. The sequel picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has died under strange circumstances. As plans for his funeral take place, it becomes apparent that someone is plotting to target the funeral where all the world leaders will be. Once again it’s up to Mike Banning, along with the president and vice president, to stop this from happening.

Aaron Eckhart returns as the United States President, along with Gerard Butler as Secret Service lead agent Mike Banning and Morgan Freeman who plays the Vice President. If you loved the first one, you can’t miss this one!

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 2016)

When it comes to DC Comic superheroes, there is the age old question of Batman vs. Superman; who do you prefer? You’ll have to stand behind your man in this upcoming blockbuster that sees Batman travel to Metropolis to take on Superman. Batman thinks Superman is a threat to humanity and takes it upon himself to stop him. However, as the superheroes prepare to face off, a bigger threat arises. Can they work together to save the world?

This is the first film that has Ben Affleck in the role of Batman, which has fans waiting to see if he can live up to the standard that Christian Bale set with his Dark Knight trilogy. Henry Cavil reprises his role a Superman, whilst Gal Gadot has been brought onboard as Wonder Woman.

It’s definitely one to watch out for – it’s going to be huge!

The Secret Life of Pets (July 2016)

Have you ever wondered what your pets get up to whilst you’re out of the house? With this new animated comedy you can finally get some answers! Max the terrier is left frustrated when his owner brings home a new pet – Duke the mongrel. They learn to work together after discovering that a white Rabbit called Snowball is putting together an army of unwanted pets and declaring war on all those pets that have happy owners.

Judging by the trailer, we think the crazy pug or the rocking poodle might end up being our favourite pets! If you’re a fan of animated films such as Toy Story, then you’re in for a treat with this movie. It’s worth jotting down in your diary.

Whilst we look forward to an amazing year of films, we also love to look back at all our fondest memories. Do you have memoirs on video that you haven’t been able to watch in years?
