The American accolade is given in recognition of\u00a0excellent talent and skill within the industry, and has a wide range of awards; from Best TV Drama and Best Motion Picture, to Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture and Best Director &#8211; Motion Picture.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Golden Globe Awards were held on January 8<sup>th<\/sup>, and we\u2019ve decided to take a look at some of the winners that came out with one of the most prestigious awards in the film and TV world!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Best Motion Picture &#8211;\u00a0 La La Land and Moonlight<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are two categories at the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture \u2013 one for Drama and one for Musicals or Comedies<\/p>\n<p><em>La La Land<\/em> is a film which follows the lives of a Jazz pianist and an aspiring actress and is set in Los Angeles. Starring two of the biggest names in film right now \u2013 Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone \u2013 this musical takes the genre to a whole new, modern level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0pdqf4P9MB8?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">With powerful, emotional scenes throughout, this film covers the theme of pursuing your dreams in a modern, relatable way.<\/p>\n<p>The film rightfully picked up the Best Motion Picture \u2013 Musical or Comedy award, beating the likes of Deadpool, Florence Foster Jenkins, 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century Woman and Sing Street to the post for the award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9NJj12tJzqc?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Moonlight<\/em> took the Drama award, and is a heartfelt story of a young black man named Chiron transitioning to adulthood. Following him during his journey of self-discovery and trying to figure out where he fits in the world, the feature is heavily based on the play <em>In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue<\/em> by Tarell Alvin McCraney.<\/p>\n<p>It is currently sat at number 4 on Metacritic\u2019s highest rated film list.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Best Performance by an Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture &#8211; Musical or Comedy \u2013 Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>La La Land<\/em> didn\u2019t just sweep the Best Motion Picture prize \u2013 the two main actors also collected awards for their respective roles in the film.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VDMf9m7FXd4?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=width:100% allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ryan Gosling picked up his first Golden Globe for his role of Sebastian in the film. Gosling has had Golden Globe nominations previously for his roles in <em>Lars and the Real Girl, Blue Valentine, Crazy, Stupid, Love<\/em> and <em>The Ides of March,<\/em> but this is his first Golden Globe win.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a6DA-WF8fN4?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Emma Stone also won her award for her portrayal of Mia in <em>La La Land<\/em>. It may come as a surprise to many that this is also her first Golden Globe win, missing out on taking the prize in previous years for her roles in <em>Easy A <\/em>and <em>Birdman.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Best Television Series \u2013 Drama \u2013 The Crown<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This category was filled with some big names in the television world that have graced our TV sets this year, but it was<em> The Crown<\/em> that took\u2026 well, the crown!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JWtnJjn6ng0?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Following the story of the early reign of our very own HRH Queen Elizabeth II, the 10 episode show aired on streaming platform Netflix back in November, and has since gathered a huge following.
